Chocolate Chip Cookies

I love to cook and this afternoon I made chocolate chip cookies using my favorite recipe.  They are delicious.

I've been using this recipe for several years and it never disappoints.

The dough is perfect and it doesn't have to be chilled before baking.  I like that!

I place the dough on a greased baking sheet and
bake the cookies for about 9 minutes.
 I like chewy cookies.
I also only bake one sheet at a time.

I let the baked cookies rest on the baking sheet for about
30 seconds before I start removing them.

I don't want them to continue to cook and become too crispy.

This is a recipe that can be made by layering the ingredients
into a large canning jar and given as a little gift.

I like these cookies so much that I don't even
wait for a special occasion to make them.

I love these cookies!

Chocolate Chip Cookies

1  3/4 c all purpose flour
3/4 t baking soda
3/4 t salt
1  1/2 c semi-sweet chocolate morsels
3/4 c packed brown sugar
1/2 c granulated sugar

If you want to use the jar recipe, layer the above ingredients in a large canning jar in the order listed.

You will then add:
1/1/2 sticks of butter (room temperature)
1 large egg
3/4 t vanilla

If you decide to give/make them as a jar recipe, you will cream the butter, egg and vanilla together and then add the dry ingredients.

Here's how I make the cookies (without the jar):

Preheat oven to 350.  Cream butter (at room temperature) and sugars together until creamy.  Add egg.  Mix well and add the vanilla.  Add dry ingredients, mixing well between additions.  Drop by tablespoons on a greased baking sheet.  Bake 9-10 minutes.  Remove cookies from oven and then move to a cooling rack.  Makes 3 dozen cookies.   I always double the recipe.  YUMMY!

You may also add 1/2 cup pecans or walnuts to the recipe.

Note:  I've also made the recipe (doubled for 6 dozen cookies) and baked half.  Then I've balled the remaining dough, placed the dough balls on a baking sheet and then I've frozen them for a couple hours.  I've then removed them from the baking sheet and placed them in a freezer bag.  You can let them thaw out on the baking sheet or add about two minutes to the baking time if the dough is still frozen.  Either way, they turn out great!  It's nice to take out just a few cookies and to bake them at a later date. You can have warm cookies--anytime!!  ENJOY!

Marsha,
This is so funny, just this afternoon I was thinking that I should make some chocolate chip cookies tomorrow. I have a recipe that I really like, but I think I'll give yours a whirl. It's always fun to try something a little different. I will definately be adding pecans. Gotta tell you, I love your "Lust for Rust". I think this is going to be my new favorite saying.

I did get a peek at your granite counters in this post! And now I want a cookie, even though it's only 5:30 a.m. LOL!

Oh I wish I'd read this post about 5 hours ago! I was looking everywhere trying to find a new cookie recipe and just couldn't seem to find anything that was right. Never mind, I have bookmarked this and will use it next time-thanks so much for posting it!

Best wishes and happy weekend,

There is nothing more comforting than a couple of warm chocolate chip cookies and a tall glass of milk. Yes please.
