European Souvenir Coffee Table

So after the memories of your trip have become a bit faded, do you still treasure the souvenir?
You know--souvenir--from the French--for a remembrance or memory. A keepsake or token of remembrance...
Since it's June and vacation time is officially here, I thought of some of the great trips that I've been blessed to take over the years. So, this week, I decided that I would arrange a few souvenirs from a special trip that I took to Europe many years ago.
I decided to start this look with a white tray on a burlap runner.  It gives the table top a lighter look without painting.  I added the blue-colored architectural  piece that I'm so happy I got several years ago (I use it all the time). I put a little vintage globe bank on top with a glass cloche.
Next, I decided to select a coffee mug that was bought
in England along with one of my English horse brasses.
I put out a few coins and a book on
Michelangelo that I got in Florence, Italy.
I almost always have a plant on my coffee table.  I just love plants-do you?  Anyway, I picked a few different stems from my yard:  a piece of coleus, a couple of fern fronds, a tiny caladium leaf and one little daisy.  See, you don't have to have a handful of flowers to make a sweet little bouquet!  These are all in a vase that I got in Delft when we were in the Netherlands.
I still love each of these items that I
selected when I was a fresh high school graduate.
That trip was so long ago that these items
 are now vintage (like me).
Little did I know then that I would be sharing
these treasures with you so many years later.
I love changing the look of my coffee table.  I don't move furniture, but I enjoy changing my accessories--it keeps things fresh and interesting.  And, if you tire of the look, you just move on to something else.
Do you have special souvenirs somewhere in your home just waiting to be rediscovered and shared with family and friends?? Why not get them out-dust them off and bring them forward to be enjoyed again?!

Love your display Marsha! I love picking up little pieces of art when we travel. In fact, we are in Breckenridge, Co right now and I bought two pieces today that I can't wait to use in my home. The photo of your mom is so cute!

Jann
