Gloomy Dining Room

My Halloween decorations in my dining room have been the same for several years.  I have been using a black tablecloth with a sheer overlay with skulls on it on my table.  Then, I've added a number of candles, treat buckets and other small decorations.  I really like treat buckets and fill them with candy so I'll be ready for any Halloween event.  Here are some of the treat buckets that I have been using on my table.

I like their colors and their vintage-style faces.
I've been collecting them for over 12 years.

This year, I have been so inspired by the blogs I've visited that I decided
to try something new.  I'd seen a lot of mercury glass on tables and knew
I had a bunch of mercury glass, so I decided to get some
of it out to go on my "new table."
I pulled out a few other odds and ends
and then added a couple of new items I found at T. J. Maxx.
I got the mercury glass pumpkins there and they were sooo
much cheaper than the ones that Pottery Barn had.
I also got the witch hat at T. J. Maxx.

Yes, I already had this hand amongst my Halloween decorations.

I already had this jar with gummy eyeballs that I used in another room-
but I think it looks "nice" on the table, don't you?

While I was looking for something the other day,
I found a box of old flatware that I had put up.
It was perfectly tarnished for Halloween.

Here's the new witch hat.

I tore this old sheet music out of the book for something and then
laid it down on the corner of the table while I collected the
magnifying glass and the skull decoration that
I made several years ago.  I set them all down
and then when I came back later,
I decided I liked them just as they were.

I added the scrapbook paper and the black ribbon to the plain white candle.

I will have a couple of parties to celebrate Halloween this year.
Last year, I had a coffee and invited friends to "Join Me for a Spell."

What to do think of my new Halloween table?

Now I just have to add a P.S. ...

I just realized that I had not taken pictures of my three black cats that are also in my dining room.  I got them several years ago and I had them out before I decided to switch my table decor.  They are a little more fun and whimsical.  I say this because of how they are displayed....they are right there in the midst of my silver coffee/tea service and right under my great, great aunt's hand-painted Haviland china.  I knew I wasn't "right" a long time ago....oh, well.

Love your new Halloween table - the mercury glass accents really elevate the display. I also love your use of seasonally coloured glass balls and how you jazzed up that plain white candle.

Thanks so much for the inspiration!

Take care,

Love your three black cats, Marsha! Your table looks great! I love all the pieces you've added in. Now why didn't I think of a hand under glass? I think I have one floating around in one of my Halloween bins, too.

Visiting from Open House Party! :)
